Who Could Have Known (Bonnaroo 2006)

We stood, staring there
at the sky as it morphesized
and we were mesmerized
by the size of the earth
and the fire in our eyes.
We prophesized on lies
and unknown truths.
We had our conviction
but all we lacked was the proof.
But as always in youth,
we looked towards the future,
and no sense of the past.
We lived for it now.
But did we live it too fast?
Who could know at times like these?

It Must Have Been the Moon

For Nadine

Charged by a powerful energy
We rejuvenate together
just like you said
Not really a ritual
but a cause to the effect
that you had on me

As I reached out to connect
I reached into my soul
and could already picture
a part of you there
We live carbon-copy lives
in cookie-cutter towns

Do you ever wonder
if we go home at night
under the same moon
and do the same thing
alone?

It must have been the moon
that brought us here
Not really a ritual
but a cause to the effect
that you had on me
